Why People Think Services Are A Good Idea

Role of Bail Bond

Committing a crime usually renders a person eligible for being arrested and held in a jail for a period of time before appearing in a court of law or being released on a bail. The bail bond acts as a promise to ensure that the defendant once released from jail will appear in the set court on a set date and time for the hearing of the case without fail. The value of the bail bond is usually set by the court. Once the bail bond has been set, the defendant will be prevented from abusing the appeal process. This is so to prevent appealing for other reasons instead of the reasons intended. Most of the appeals are done once the defendant feels that the ruling given by the court is not fair hence would wish the decision to be reviewed.

When a person is being given a bail bond, there are various factors that are considered to determine its value. A higher bail bond value can be given in situations where the nature and severity of the crime is very gross. In situations where the threat level posed by the criminal to themselves or the society around them is high, a higher value of the bail bond will be attracted as compared to low threat level. A person whose previous records indicate more crimes committed will attract higher bail bond than a person who has previous criminal encounters. In some situations, the criminal may be denied a bail bond hence has to remain in jail until their case is heard and determined.

A bail bond agent or a bail bondsman who works for the surety bond company will post a bond for the defendant if he is unable to post it and they charge a service fee which is a given percentage of the total value of the bail bond. For the bail bondsman to post the bail bond for a defendant, there has to be collateral which can be in form of securities, a valuable property or even the defendant’s credit worthiness. The collateral will act as insurance between the defendant and the bail bond agent. If the defendant does not appear in court once the bail bond has been posted, the bail bonds agent will act remain with him/her. The defendant will be given back the collateral less the service fee charged if he/she appear in court at the scheduled date and time and the case is concluded. Seeking the services of experienced and knowledgeable bail bondsmen will ensure that one gets best services when unable to post a bail by themselves.
